The MT Power Drum Kit is a free drum sampler offering the powerful, high-quality sounds of an acoustic drum kit.
Samples have been specially recorded and processed to make them ideally suited for use in pop, rock and metal productions.
The MT Power Drum Kit Sampler differs from other, expensive drum samplers in that we have already pre-processed the sounds with compressors and EQs to make them a perfect fit for any mix. This is precisely where many drum sample programs fail. Some of the expensive plugins available on the market deliver a highly natural and dynamic drum kit sound as a solo instrument, but many fail as soon as they are supposed to be used for a complete mix in a powerful pop or rock production. Either the kick drum suddenly sounds much too slack or fuzzy in the mix, or the snare drum, which initially sounds natural and dynamic in solo mode, suddenly gets lost in the background in the overall mix, drowned out by the guitars and other instruments. But this is exactly where the MT Power Drum Kit is strongest. Its kick and snare drums come through clearly in any mixing situation – and still sound natural and not overly compressed.
The compressors built into the channels give you even more control over the level of compression.
You can choose from thousands of assorted rhythms in the comprehensive Groove Library and compose your own drum accompaniment. In particular, the innovative functions for creating fills generate very smooth and realistic drum tracks.
Because we used high-quality cymbals and microphones for the recordings, the crash, ride and hi-hat cymbals sound especially refined and pleasant at various velocities.
As early as during microphoning of the set and recording of individual samples, we took great care to replicate realistic circumstances. Although doing so is almost impossible, we broke with tradition in sample recording, which calls for capturing every sound individually; Instead, our studio drummer played entire grooves. This plugin now has a Linux version that supports VST3. Could use more than 3 toms, but it works well, and if you can find another kit that works to your liking, just take the toms from there.

Excellent sounds (they're not adjustable but they sound great out of the box) and comes with a wide variety of riffs, fills and intros that are VERY usable (and fully editable). And they conform to the MIDI standard for drums.

This is an excellent drum machine that sounds really very very good. Linn and similar sampled drum machines fell into the uncanny valley instantly. This takes a while longer. It has lots of great features in it and a pretty UI with the drums and all. It's very suitable demos of pop and rock stuff, and could be used in finals if the genre accepts such things. It does have its complexities, but over all a real winner of a virtual drum kit. Good job! Dr Tonka Seal of Approval.

A solid and very useful drumkit for demoing your rough cuts. MTP provides the slightly more produced tone we all want to make our demos sound a little more professional. If that's all one wants to achieve from one's recording efforts then MTP is hard to beat from what's available in the range of free, conventional drumkit vsti. I don't think the intention of the devs was to create a replacement for high quality, beautifully tuned and mic'd acoustic drums played with skill and finesse. I love it for what is; a clean and reliable demoing drumkit.

Am I the only one who thinks that the copper is very strongly pinched? Kick and snare drums sound no bad (Not more). Honestly, some compressed mp3. China sounds good. It's like a floating sound on high. How could such a beautiful setup be ruined? Unfortunately three points because of the dishes. My personal opinion.

Good plugin for creation, easy and simple to use. Unfortunately it doesn't translate well to different plugins, so if you're planning on sending it off to an engineer, first he will call 'the kick like paper', and then bemoan the fact they're unable to set a different plugin to the midi-file without things disappearing. You can get it to sound good, and we have, but it takes a lot of work. Still one of the better ones out there mind you, glad to have used and paid for it.

Surprisingly good sounding but still very basic. Not sure I see the point in getting a plugin like this if you already have any drum sampler and access to some decent samples. CPU usage is very modest.

This is great. This is what I was looking for. Great sounds. But one thing that troubles me is that I could not drag and drop grooves into FL studio Playlist or channel rack. My FL is working fine with the drag and drop function with all other samples but with MT power drum kit it does not allow me to do that. Any help with this one? It deserve a five star with this function for me.

My go to. Kick tone is monster. Snare is tight. My ONLY criticism is that the 10 and 12 toms are a bit too close together in pitch. But they sound like the real deal. And it's free.

Now... after nearly 2 years using this fantastic kit, I’m thinking: how do I “separate†single drums from ready made grooves, so I could pan cymbals right, snare left, etc kind of ‘finer’ placement for individual drums? Appreciate any help - I understand this is a rather nooby question, and a total noob (<18 months) using Reaper!

This kit sounds amazing, controls are easy to use and the included midi library and groove tools are a great usable feature. This also includes a great deal of intro's and fills!!!! I prefer this over a number of paid drum kits because of the sound and easy workflow. That's why i recommend to consider the donate option to keep projects like these alive.... (2 thumbs up)

2 ish years into using this with Reaper. For an old musician (30+ yrs in business) but an entry lever audio designer... this is a dream come true. Drums/cymbals sound like my drummers at the rehearsals in the 90’s! If you do rock/punk/folk/country, you will LOVE this kit :)

Makes my DAW load and save very slowly, sometimes crashes it, stops some other VSTs from working. Not sure if that is the programme itself, or some kind of nagging to get you to donate.

This here, is the perfect vst for guitarists who needs drums. I fully tested this vst, works perfect, there is a table of various drum grooves. intro, verse fills ends, you can assemble a full drum stem track, then import into your DAW as a full midi drum stem. Perfect for that guitar player who needs drum lines to create. If you are clever, you can add various hits and drum effects to various channel tracks you make. This is the easiest way to make drum tracks, hands down.

Really easy to use and intuitive GUI. Comes loaded with good grooves to get you up and running. Use it mainly when demoing songs/riffs in the metal genre. Running 64 bit W10 and haven't had a Reaper project hang since I moved to a new build. Samples respond really well to other plugins and the built in mixer is simple and responsive. I've been using GrooveMonkee loops and other than having to move the odd midi element, it's all be plain sailing so far. Worth a donation after you've installed.

Hi!!! I need help. Reaper doesn't recognize the PDK file, it recognizes only the dll one, so I can't use this VST. I have them together and I have tried to put them compressed in a zip format and reaper continues doing the same. When I open the VST it says: there's a file missing, bla bla bla PDK. I don't know what to do. Pls help me :(

If you havent figured it out yet, you need to to copy both the dll and the pdk content file from the the zip folder and paste them directly into Reaper>Plugins>FX path folder.

Best free Acoustic drum vst out there. Excellent GUI and midi library. This vst rivals many paid vsts - Superior drums Ez drummer Addictive etc, just depends on what sound you want for a particular mix. Get it, it wont disappoint.

Maybe I missed something here but this seems a bit limited. If you want to use it to program your own drum tracks and really want a variety of different sounds then there doesn't seem to be much on offer here besides the basic kit sound. Other than being very limited i suppose it sounds ok and works fine.

I love this VST but I have one BIG problem: it loads painfully slow, it takes about 2 minutes in Reaper. If any ideas, please advice. Clean, fresh install, Win7 64bits or Win10/64 bits first Reaper install.

It loads almost instantly for me (also using Reaper on Win7 64 bit). How much RAM do you have? Any less than 8GB, and it might struggle.

does anyone have any 2/4 time grooves in their copy of MT Power 2? I only noticed today, when I need to have a 2/4 groove, that there were none. Absolutely fantastic. Good default sounds, nice interface. Lots of grooves and fills that drag and drop into your DAW midi. You can route each drum to a channel, great for individual drum processing. You can even use it to trigger drums in another program, with is mega handy especially since the midi grooves and fills are great.

Amazing sound, really easy to use. Fills and grooves fit together seamlessly. Love the fact that you can also choose how long you want each "sample" - you can choose the number of bars you want it to last. for example, you may want groove 05 to be 4 bars, then groove 06 to be 3 bars followed by a one bar fill. another great thing you can do with this is, once you create a groove / fill / intro / whatever sequence in the VST, and drag 'n' drop it to the track on your DAW to create the MIDI sequence - you can edit that MIDI and add / remove elements - so if you wanted an extra crash cymbal, add it as a new note. Same if you want to remove something, remove it's note. So even if the pre-arranged groove isn't how you want it in the VST, you can edit the MIDI. Awesome :) My only complaint, and it's not even a complaint, really, more of a "I wish......" thing - the "bell" grooves, I wish the bell sound was more prominent, more "loud", less "soft". Not a dealbreaker, as this is a fantastic VST that gives a realistic drum performance. And it is FREE!! Thank you, manda software. Excellent VST :)

you are very welcome, flyingscooter :) I am still finding out what this wonderful VST can do. I tend to start with a groove and drag that from the VST to the track (I use Reaper, btw). Then i add a guide piano to lay out the whole song by it's sections. Later I can tweak the drum track by really digging into the VST and it's grooves and fills and intros. I drag a groove or a fill to the "composer" in the VST. It only lets you add a few bars at a time, wish it would allow more. Still, no biggie, I then drag and drop those to my track in Reaper, replacing sections of my original "guide" groove. And when happy with every groove or fill dragged into the Reaper track, I can edit them midi in Reaper and add extra things if needed, like a cymbal crash or extra snare hit. Or remove something i don't want. So you are not limited to how the groove sounds in the VST, you can customize it in the midi in your DAW's track :)

Been using this for a long time now for EVERY song. It's the most authentic-sounding kit I've come across for rock, fusion, funk etc - in other words, music that requires the sound of real acoustic drums. I can't believe it's free!
